World's highest railway bridge on Chenab by September: LG Manoj Sinha

Sinha said the Centre has doubled the budget of J&K since 2019 to ensure development, progress and prosperity of the region.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said the world's highest railway bridge on the Chenab river in Jammu will be ready in September this year. It will connect Kashmir with Kanyakumari.

Sinha said the Centre has doubled the budget of J&K since 2019 to ensure development, progress and prosperity of the region. While addressing a press meet in Jammu to give details about the annual budget of Rs 1.12 lakh crore allocated to J&K, Sinha said the economy of the region would get doubled soon.

"In September this year, the highest rail bridge on Chenab river will be ready and Kashmir will be connected with Kanyakumari...the pace of development has doubled in the region since August 2019," said Sinha.


The LG stated that the budget allocated to J&K is 'futuristic and growth-oriented' and would be spent on the 1.30 crore residents of J&K without any discrimination. "This budget will address the needs and aspirations of the people of J&K," he said.
