Kolkata: Major concerns have been expressed by some sections of society, including the Opposition BJP, over West Bengal's law and order situation and the lack of women's safety following the death of a 27-year-old woman on Sunday night after her vehicle met with an accident near Panagarh on the National Highway in West Bengal's Paschim Bardhaman district, after being allegedly chased by miscreants for 20 km. No one has been arrested till now.

The deceased woman was the head of an events management company. Four others in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The name of one Bablu Yadav has come up, who was allegedly in the vehicle with some other men on the night of the incident, while chasing Sutandra. He is absconding.

"They were trying to stop our car and kidnap my daughter. There is no dearth of police. When they have CCTVs, why have they not tracked her," the deceased's mother asked.

Crime Investigation Department sleuths have reached Kanksha on Tuesday and started a probe.
