He was speaking at a seminar organised by the Army on International Women's Day at the Corps headquarter in Srinagar. He said women should ensure that men don't tread the wrong path of militancy. If women are not able to handle the situation, they should hand the men over to the authorities for correction.
"Everybody has blamed the men for the situation here. I think women too are responsible for this. As a mother, sister and wife you need to guide men in the right direction...You alone have the courage to guide the youth and get them back from the paths of drugs, violence and terrorism," said the GoC of Chinar Corps. He said the Army understands the "value and respect of women and their role in society". "We have made a lot of endeavours to ensure that women lead Kashmiri society to its true destination ...and we are witnessing winds of change now," he said.
He recalled the role the women in Kashmir have played historically and the resilience of women like Lal Ded, Kota Rani and Habba Khatoon.
