Women in Haryana's Nuh to write 10,000 post cards to PM Narendra Modi demanding a dedicated university
Women in Nuh district are campaigning through a postcard initiative, led by activist Sunil Jaglan, to draw attention to the lack of higher education opportunities for women in the area. The campaign aims to address the concerns of over 20,000 wome...

Nuh, identified as an aspirational district by the state government, faces a dearth of higher education institutions and vocational training centers. While men have the option to seek work and training in other districts, women are often left with limited choices, leading many to drop out of education and marry early.
The ToI report stated that the postcard campaign, supported by the sarpanches of approximately 28 villages, seeks to address the concerns of over 20,000 women in the 16-24 age group who lack access to higher education in the region. During a meeting in Mewat, female students from 32 villages formed virtual groups and planned the campaign, gaining the support of their families who are willing to send their daughters for higher education if a university is established in Nuh.
Jaglan told ToI that access to education is a basic right and highlights the disparity faced by Nuh, the most backward district in the state, which lacks a university. The demand for a university in Nuh has been ongoing, but it has not been met thus far. The postcard campaign aims to catch the attention of the authorities and garner support from social activists, non-resident Indians, and individuals from other states through postcards and social media.
With the backing of gram panchayats, local communities, and the determination of the women in Nuh, the campaign strives to bridge the educational gap and reduce college drop-out rates. By urging the government to establish a university, these women hope to secure their right to higher education and pursue better opportunities for their future.
