Woman dies after her hair gets stuck in a lift in Tamil Nadu

A 52-year-old woman died in a bizarre accident after her hair got entangled in a service lift at a commercial complex near Gandhi Market in Trichy city on Thursday night, as reported by TOI.

The deceased was identified as D Sumathi, a resident of Thennur, who was employed at a private hardware outlet near Gandhi Market. Police told TOI that the incident occurred around 9.45 p.m. while she was using the service lift to access the third floor of the building. Her hair reportedly got caught in the lift's mechanism, resulting in fatal head injuries. She died on the spot.

Police lodge a case of suspicious death

Following the incident, Gandhi Market police arrived at the scene and transferred the body to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), relating to suspicious death.
