Forest Department officials have captured the wolf responsible for killing eight people in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich. Prior to this, the department had managed to capture three other wolves in the area.

Over the past two months, several incidents in Bahraich have involved a pack of wolves attacking and killing eight people.

The wolves wreaked havoc in nearly 50 villages.

Earlier on Tuesday, BJP MLA from the Mahasi assembly constituency, Sureshwar Singh, along with other residents, armed themselves with rifles and sticks to keep watch for the pack of wolves. Singh also warned the local population about the wolf attacks and worked to boost the morale of those affected.

In response to the attacks, officials conducted an awareness program advising people to stay indoors at night.

Sureshwar Singh noted that the wolf scare began in Bahraich district and its Mahasi Assembly constituency on July 17, 2024. "Since then, deaths have been reported, and 20 people have been injured," he said.

Officials used drones to locate the wolves and also set up nets to create a barrier.
