Assam Police reviews security of Dibrugarh jail

Assam Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Prashanta Kumar Bhuyan on Monday rushed to Dibrugarh and held high level meeting on security issues.

With operatives of pro Khalistan group Waris Punjab De kept in Dibrugarh jail in Assam, Assam police reviewed the security of jail.

Arrangement is made to keep seven members of the group in the jail.

Assam Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Prashanta Kumar Bhuyan on Monday rushed to Dibrugarh and held high level meeting on security issues.


The four individuals, identified as Daljit Singh Kalsi, Bhagwant Singh, Gurmeet Singh, and Pradhanmantri Bajeka were brought from Punjab to Dibrugarh on Sunday.

In a major crackdown were 78 people were arrested in Saturday. The group is headed by Amritpal Singh, who is wanted in several criminal cases.

A senior police official who do not want to be named told ET, " Three more people are likely to arrive. Harjeet Singh - the uncle of Amritpal Singh is en route Dibrugarh."
