Srinagar: J&K Police has booked an Army officer's wife for allegedly "collecting and sharing" sensitive information with foreign intelligence operatives, including "individuals linked to China". The case has been registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station as FIR No. 290/2026 under sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, along with sections 152 and 61 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

According to sources, she was pursuing certain research-related activities, which are being examined.

The accused, wife of a major-rank officer and a resident of Telangana currently residing within the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar PS, allegedly fell into the trap unknowingly, not realising that those she had been interacting with were not academicians but intelligence operatives from China.

"Degree of information exchanged is being investigated," said an official. The accused has not been arrested so far.
