Why getting Ganja is as easy as buying a toffee? Haryana college student's video questioning police goes viral
A college student from Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University in Sonipat has gained online admiration for questioning the availability of drugs on campus. In a viral video, the student highlights the failure of the police to address drug addiction...

“Sir, we have seen such a big program on drug de-addiction campaigns, but the university is the biggest epicenter of drug addiction. Today, students from four universities are gathered here. Getting Ganja or any intoxicating substance is as easy as getting a toffee or a lollipop. If a first or second-year student can trace or track the drug dealers, then why can’t the police do the same? Are the police falling behind?” the student asked the police spokesperson who was apparently giving a session in the university over de addiction.
"As a student here, I know that there is a police station nearby, and 'ganja' is available right in front of it. So, don't you think this is a failure of the police?" he added.
The student's inquiry highlights the failure of the police to address the issue of drug addiction on university campuses. The video caption describes the student's actions as courageous and notes that they are bringing attention to a topic that the police have been avoiding discussing. Social media users flooded the comment section with accolades for the student's bravery and many agreed with their sentiments.
It is important to note that the possession, sale, or purchase of cannabis is considered a criminal offense in India under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Each state has its own regulations regarding the consumption and possession of cannabis. Despite these laws, the student's inquiry suggests that obtaining cannabis is still relatively easy on university campuses. The video serves as a reminder of the need for stronger enforcement of drug laws and a more proactive approach from the police in tackling drug addiction among students.
