Wet spell to continue in Himachal till August 28; 98 roads closed

Dharamshala recorded the highest rainfall of 68.2 mm, followed by Nagrota Suriyan 60.4 mm, Kangra 53.4 mm, Sujanpur Tira 39.8 mm, Guler 35.4 mm and Sundernagar 35 mm, the Met office said.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning were reported in Shimla, Sundernagar, Murari Devi, Kangra and Jot, it said.
As of Saturday evening, 98 roads were closed to vehicular traffic in the state, while 89 transformers and 42 drinking water supply schemes were also disrupted, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).
Mandi reported the highest number of road blockages at 42, followed by Kullu 31, Kangra eight, Sirmaur five, Shimla and Una four each, Chamba two, and Bilaspur and Lahaul-Spiti one each.
Himachal Pradesh received 175.2 mm of rainfall against the normal 201.1 mm between August 1 and 22, recording a deficit of 13 per cent.
