The meeting was convened at state secretariat Nabanna today, following an order by the High Court, to resolve the issue.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, State Chief Secretary H K Dwivedi and Home Secretary B P Gopalika met five members of Joint Forum of State government Employees and two members of State Coordination Committee at Nabanna. The protest has put the ruling Trinamool Congress in a major predicament, ahead of the Panchayat polls.
The Joint Forum of State Government Employees has decided to intensify its protest after the meeting failed.
“Sangrami Joutho Mancha” under whose banner various organizations are protesting will also organize protests on April 27 and 29th.
Altogether 42% DA is due and the state government has failed to pay the dues, a protester said. The Forum has been protesting for a long time and has undertaken protests in Delhi also. All opposition parties-BJP, CPI-M and Congress are supporting their cause and shared dais with DA protesters in Kolkata.
