Vande Mataram must in Bengal school assemblies
Kolkata: West Bengal government directed all the state-run and aided schools to mandatorily sing Vande Mataram during morning assemblies. The students must sing the six-stanza song before starting their classes, as per an official order. "It is hereby ordered that in supersession of all previous orders and practices, singing of Vande Mataram during assembly prayers, prior to the commencement of classes, is hereby made mandatory...," an order issued by the additional chief secretary of West Bengal said.
