West Bengal CEO launches EMMS 2.0 portal to prepare polling personnel database for 2026 assembly elections

West Bengal is gearing up for the 2026 assembly elections with the launch of the EMMS 2.0 portal by Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal. This new system will create a comprehensive database of polling personnel from approximately 32,000 offices.

Kolkata: West Bengal-Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal launched a new portal of polling personnel today for West Bengal in connection with the preparation of a database of election manpower for the upcoming 2026 West Bengal assembly elections.

The offices will log in the portal and make data entry directly through this new portal named EMMS 2.0. The portal (emms.wb.gov.in) was launched in virtual mode in the presence of Arindam Niyogi, Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Sumanta Roy, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Saikat Narayan Bhattacharya, Joint. Director(IT) and Samik Kumar Bhattacharya, Joint Director(IT) of the NIC, Kolkata.

“At a time when approximate increase of around 14,000 polling stations is likely to happen and erstwhile polling personnel being engaged as new BLOs (Booth Level Officers), the need for preparation of the polling personnel database of around 32,000 offices is significant for smooth conduct of Election, people in the know said.


All the Additional District Magistrate-Election, Officer in Charge Polling Personnel, Officer in-charge Election, DIO & ADIO, NIC, Sub-divisional Officer in charge polling personnel of the 24 districts and Ashis Mukherjee, who is Senior Director(IT) NIC, WBSU were also present, sources said.

A detailed software operational training was imparted today and a detailed dateline of activities was shared with the district level officers, including probable training of polling personnel. Data entry schedule was also shared. Randomization of polling personnel, training on demand, online test, generation of intimation letter, monitoring election experience are some new features of the portal.
