The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for both heatwaves and rainstorms affecting various regions from April 14 to 18.
Heatwave to sizzle northwest & west India
Northwest India and Gujarat are bracing for a significant rise in temperatures over the coming days, with a 3-5°C increase in maximum temperatures expected between April 14 and 18.
Delhi-NCR, in particular, will experience a gradual rise in temperatures, with maximums reaching between 38°C to 40°C on April 14, and 39°C to 41°C on April 15.
Heatwave conditions are forecasted to hit Delhi starting April 16, with temperatures climbing to 40°C to 42°C.
Severe heatwave conditions are likely to persist in West Rajasthan from April 14 to 18, with isolated pockets in Telangana, North Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, and East Rajasthan experiencing heatwaves from April 16 to April 19.
The weather agency has also warned of high temperatures over Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh over the next few days.
Rainfall forecast for eastern and southern India
While Northwest India faces scorching heat, East and South India are in for some relief, with rainfall and thunderstorms expected to affect multiple regions from April 14 to 18.
Northeast India and East India, including Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, will experience scattered to widespread rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
The South is not immune to the downpours either.
Isolated to scattered rainfall is also expected in Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, and Mahe during the next three days.
