He said, "During Operation Sindoor, the world saw the capabilities of our indigenous weapons. Our Air Defence Systems, missiles, and drones have proved the strength of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', especially the Brahmos missiles. Brahmos missiles will now be manufactured in Lucknow."
Modi added that major defence companies are setting up their manufacturing plants in the UP defence corridor.
"Many major defence firms are setting up their manufacturing plants in the UP defence corridor. Made in India weapons will soon become the strength of our forces," he said.
PM also hailed Operation Sindoor and said that he avenged the loss of the Pahalgam terror attack with the blessings of Lord Mahadev.
PM Modi, during his address, dedicated the success of Operation Sindoor to Lord Mahadev.
PM Modi said, "This is the first time I have come to Kashi after Operation Sindoor. 26 innocent civilians were mercilessly killed by terrorists in Pahalgam. My heart was full of sorrow. I had pledged to take revenge for my daughters' sindoor, and I fulfilled it with the blessings of Mahadev. I dedicate the success of Operation Sindoor to the feet of Mahadev."
PM Modi said, "When there is injustice and terror in front, Mahadev adorns his 'Rudra roop'. The world saw this face of India during Operation Sindoor. Anyone who messes with India will not be spared even in 'pataal lok'."
PM Modi calls for 'swadeshi' consumerism amid tariff era
PM Modi, during his Varanasi visit, called on citizens to adopt the spirit of "swadeshi" and support locally-made products. He stressed that true service to the nation lies in promoting indigenous goods, especially amid "global economic uncertainties", signalling US tariff era.The prime minister reiterated push for 'swadeshi' (indigenous) comes as the US announced tariffs on exports from about 70 nations, including India.
Addressing the public meeting in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi, Modi said, "As we talk about economic progress, I want to draw your attention to the current global scenario.
According to the White House order, India now faces tariffs of 25% for its exports to the US.
Emphasising that farmers, small industries, and employment for youth are the top-most priorities for his government, Modi said, "The government is doing everything possible in this direction. But as citizens, we too have responsibilities."
The PM said, "This is not just about Modi saying it, every Indian should say this, if we want India to become the third-largest economy, every political party and every leader, keeping aside their hesitations, must work in the nation's interest and awaken the spirit of swadeshi among the people."
Reiterating 'Vocal for Local', saying, "Whatever we buy, we should ask ourselves - has an Indian toiled to make this? If it has been made by the sweat of our people, with their skills, that product is swadeshi for us. We must adopt the mantra of 'Vocal for Local'."
"At a time when the world is going through uncertainty, let us take a pledge to sell only swadeshi goods from our shops and markets. Promoting made in India goods will be the truest service to the country," he said as he made a special appeal to traders and shopkeepers.
With the festival and wedding seasons approaching, Modi encouraged Indians to ensure that all new purchases are made in India.
"The feeling of swadeshi in every action will define our future. This will also be a true tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Only through collective effort can we fulfil the dream of a developed India," Modi said.
