Viral video shows 2 men spitting on rotis at Uttarakhand food stall, leads to arrests

Two men from Uttar Pradesh were arrested for allegedly spitting on rotis they were preparing at a food stall during the Uttarayan Fair in Bageshwar, Uttarakhand. As per a PTI report, the incident came to light after a video of the act surfaced on social media, prompting swift action by the authorities.

Video Leads to Arrests

According to Superintendent of Police Chandrashekhar Ghodke, the two accused, Aamir (30) and Firasat (25), were identified and arrested after the video clip from Numaish Khet Maidan went viral. The video reportedly showed them spitting on rotis being made for devotees at the fair.

Incident Confirmed by Officials

The Bageshwar District Magistrate, Ashish Bhatgai, confirmed that the incident took place on January 17. He explained that immediate action was taken to prevent any disruption to law and order in the area.

Food Stall Shut Down

Following the arrests, the food stall involved in the incident was shut down. Food Safety Officer Lalit Mohan Pandey stated that the two accused would be booked under the Food Safety Act for their actions.

Sent to Jail

The arrested individuals were sent to Almora Jail. Authorities have assured the public that strict action is being taken to maintain hygiene and ensure the safety of food at the fair.
