Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi waves a gamcha during the swearing-in ceremony of NDA government, at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, newly sworn-in state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, state Ministers Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Sinha also seen.
Nitish Kumar's Chief Minister oath for the record tenth time was not the only highlight at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, which turned into a packed spectacle on Thursday.

The event drew national attention, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s gesture of waving a gamchha becoming the highlight of the evening and setting off loud cheers across the venue.

Even spectators in the crowd joined the PM in waving the gamccha, which holds huge emotional value in Bihar.



The swearing-in opened with the national anthem and a cultural welcome. A group of women performed Sama Chakeva, the Mithila folk dance honouring sibling bonds. Performers later presented songs and dances from different regions of Bihar, adding a festive layer to the political ceremony.

Top leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president J.P. Nadda and chief ministers from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, Haryana and Delhi, were present at the ceremony. Nitish Kumar was sworn in as Bihar chief minister for the 10th time.

As he concluded his oath, the Prime Minister waved a gamchha to the sea of people, drawing a thunderous response.

The two leading NDA partners, BJP and JD(U), secured 89 and 85 seats respectively in the state elections, with the alliance NDA securing 202 seats in total.

On a parallel stage, BJP MP and Bhojpuri artist Manoj Tiwari and actor-singer Pawan Singh performed popular numbers, building a festive atmosphere. For visiting dignitaries, special seating and food arrangements were set up, featuring Litti-Chokha, Mathri and Makhana-Kheer.

Patna was decorated with banners and cutouts ahead of the ceremony. Key stretches, including Bailey Road, were lined with giant posters of Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Nitish Kumar and other NDA leaders, setting the scene for a politically charged and heavily watched event.
