A complaint has been filed with the cyber unit of the Delhi Police against a social media handle for impersonating Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and seeking money.
This action came after a post on X went viral, where the impersonator, claiming to be CJI Chandrachud, stated that he was stranded at Connaught Place and urgently needed Rs 500 for cab to attend an important collegium meeting at the Supreme Court.

According to a screenshot of the post, the impersonator wrote, "Hello, I am CJI and we have urgent meeting of the collegium and I am stuck at Connaught Place. Can you send me Rs 500 for cab? I will return the money once I reach the court."
Notably, the message from the scammer ended with "sent from iPad".
The apex court authorities noticed the viral post and took immediate action by lodging an FIR with the cyber branch of the Delhi Police.
After the post went viral on Tuesday, netizens had interesting reactions. One user on X wrote tat the Supreme court should take suo moto cognizance against the scammer.
Another user wrote that the internet never fails to surprise.
