Violence spreads to Naga areas in Manipur
Guwahati: The ethnic violence in Manipur has now affected all regions of the state, including previously uninvolved Naga-dominated areas.

The areas in Manipur with a significant Naga population include Ukhrul, Senapati, Tamenglong, Chandel, and parts of Kangpokpi.

Over the last few months, there have been frequent incidents of violence in Ukhrul. On Friday, three people were killed and several others injured in a clash in Ukhrul district, following which security forces on Saturday intensified operations to apprehend those involved and prevent further trouble. A police official in Imphal said security measures have been tightened in the area and operations are ongoing in the surrounding regions.

Ukhrul district, which shares an inter-state border with Nagaland and an international border with Myanmar, is predominantly inhabited by the Tangkhul Naga community.
