Mira Road: Violence continues for second day as bulldozer comes in action after clashes during Ram Mandir rally

Communal violence continued for a second day in Mumbai's Mira Road, following the Ram Mandir inauguration, amid escalating tensions between the two communities. The clashes, captured in a viral video, showcased an attack on an auto-rickshaw and the vandalization of shops and vehicles. This incident unfolded in the wake of a dispute near the Naya Nagar area ahead of the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha, prompting an investigation by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jayant Bajbale.

An independent news outlet shared a video on its official platform depicting clashes in Mumbai. The video showcased a mob attacking an auto-rickshaw and targeting establishments belonging to other communities in a fresh flare-up of Ram Temple violence. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jayant Bajbale, reported that the conflict erupted when individuals from the Hindu community raised slogans in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jayant Bajbale, "The conflict between the two communities broke out at around 11 pm on Sunday when some people of the Hindu community were raising slogans in 3-4 vehicles in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road adjacent to Mumbai."



Amid the chaos, one victim of the Ram temple violence reported, "The attackers forced me to chant religious slogans," as quoted by TimesNow. The Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, issued a stern warning against rioters, leading to the demolition of "illegal" constructions in Mumbai.

"About the incident occurred last night at Mira Road: I took detailed info on what happened in NayaNagar in Mira Bhayender last night itself. Also was constantly in touch with Mira Bhayender CP till 3.30 am. Police were instructed to take strictest action against the culprits. 13 have been arrested so far & detailed analysis of CCTV footage is underway to identify & arrest others involved too. There will be zero tolerance against anyone who tries to take the law in their own hands and attempts to disturb the law & order situation in Maharashtra," said Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, in a post on X ( formerly Twitter).

In response to the clashes, 13 individuals have been arrested, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend others involved, as seen in CCTV footage.

BJP MLA Nitesh Rane criticized the police for "inaction" and blamed them for communal disturbances. Rane raised concerns about the safety of the Hindu community, alleging that the image of the state government was tarnished due to the police's failure to handle the situation promptly.

In response to the incidents, the Mira Bhaindar Municipal Corporation deployed bulldozers to demolish "illegal" roadside stalls in the Naya Nagar area. This decisive action followed Devendra Fadnavis's warning of strict measures against rioters.

The Maharashtra government, addressing the stone-pelting incidents during the Ram Mandir Pranpratishtha celebrations, deployed bulldozers to clear encroachments in the affected area. Fadnavis reiterated a zero-tolerance approach towards those attempting to disturb law and order.

Local police issued warnings against the dissemination of objectionable content on social media. Additional Commissioner of Police Shrikant Pathak appealed for peace, assuring that the investigation would target only the accused. Investigations are ongoing, with a focus on CCTV footage to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence.

The Ram Mandir inauguration in Mumbai's Mira Road has been marred by communal tensions, leading to arrests, government warnings, and security measures to restore peace and order. Authorities are actively investigating the incidents and taking decisive actions against those responsible.
