India's UK envoy to be ambassador to China

New Delhi: Vikram K Doraiswami has been appointed as India's next ambassador to China. He is currently India's high commissioner to the UK. In the past, he has also served as India's envoy to Bangladesh, Uzbekistan and South Korea.

Beginning his career in Hong Kong in 1994 as Third Secretary, Doraiswami studied Chinese at the New Asia Yale-in-Asia language school of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 1996, he was posted to Indian embassy in Beijing, where he served for nearly four years.
