The Vibrant Village Programme will cover 662 villages near the Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh, 75 in Himachal Pradesh, 35 in Ladakh, 46 in Sikkim and 51 in Uttarakhand in the first phase, minister of state for home affairs Nisith Pramanik said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

The scheme aims to comprehensively develop border villages in 46 border blocks in 19 districts in the four states and UT. ₹4,800 crore has been allocated from 2022-26 for the programme.

Focus areas include livelihood generation, road connectivity, housing and village infrastructure, solar and wind power, television and telecom connectivity, regeneration of eco-system, promotion of tourism and culture, financial inclusion, skill development and entrepreneurship, development of cooperatives for managing agriculture, horticulture, cultivation of medicinal plants/herbs, he said.
