Mallampalli Chandrasekhar Rao, who was popularly known as Chandra Mohan, acted in approximately 600 films. He made his debut with 'Rangula Ratnam' in 1966 and went on to deliver memorable performances in movies such as 'Subhodayam', 'Sirisiri Muvva', 'Sankarabharanam', 'Seetamalakshmi', 'Alluri Sitarama Raju', 'Akhari Poratam', and 'Nuvvu naku Nachav'.
He was recognized for his talent with two Nandi Awards and one Filmfare Award South. The veteran actor was the cousin of renowned director and Dada Sahab Phalke award winner K Vishwanath. He is survived by his wife, Jalandhara, and two daughters.
Chandra Mohan's demise has left a void in the Telugu film industry. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan, TDP MLA N Balakrishna, and TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh were among the leaders who expressed their condolences.
CM KCR described Chandra Mohan as an inspiration to many actors. Expressing grief over the death of Chandra Mohan, the chief minister said the actor entertained crores of audiences for decades with his diverse roles and distinctive acting.
"Life is fleeting, the characters brought to life are eternal, our favorite actor Chandramohan Garu, who gave life to many such characters, is no more," N Balakrishna tweeted.
The death of actor Chandra Mohan, who played various roles as a hero, comedian and character artist, is a huge loss for the Telugu film industry. I pray to God to rest his soul in peace and convey my deepest condolences to the family members," posted TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh on social media platform X.
Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed their grief over the veteran actor's death.
The final farewell and last rites of Chandra Mohan are scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on Monday, November 13, according to reports. (With Agency Inputs)
