Vadodara, Gujarat traffic police wear AC helmets to beat the summer heat: Watch video

The Vadodara traffic police have discovered a way to beat the summertime heat. Its employees are now required to wear customized air-conditioned helmets. These cutting-edge AC helmets are made to relieve heat during peak temperatures between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius.

These helmets have a number of unique features installed. They feature a charging port as well as a visor to protect the eyes from sunshine. These helmets can keep you cool for up to eight hours when fully charged.

On social media, a video of police officers wearing AC helmets while on duty went viral.


The effort was prompted by reports of officials passing out in the heat on roads. Trial recipients of these helmets, traffic police officers, claimed increased comfort and productivity while carrying out their responsibilities.

What are AC helmets?

The plastic top of the specially made helmets has a structure resembling a fan. These are powered by a battery pack fastened to the police officer's waist. They offer protection from dust and other environmental factors and may operate for an entire eight hours on a single full charge.

Surprisingly, these helmets weigh 500 grams more than standard riding helmets. These specialty helmets are said to typically cost between Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 16,000.
