New Delhi: The sixth board meeting of the Uttarakhand-based House of Himalayas was held at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan on Wednesday. During the meeting, Chairman Anand Bardhan and the Board of Directors approved various proposals. Additional Secretary and Managing Director Ms. Jharna Kamthan provided a detailed overview of the House of Himalayas' progress to date.

The chief secretary Bardhan said that more and more cluster level federations and self-help groups should be added to the House of Himalayas. He stressed on further strengthening the cluster level federations and self-help groups. He directed that the payment for the products of CLFs and self-help groups should be given priority and made as soon as possible.

Emphasizing the importance of GI tagging and organic certification for maintaining the quality of products, he directed to work towards GI tagging and organic certification. He also talked about preparing a mechanism for determining the MRP of products.


The chief secretary Bardhan also directed the House of the Himalayas to expand its warehouse and storage capacity. He said that the House of the Himalayas should have warehouses in Garhwal and Kumaon, as well as a large warehouse hub in the national capital, Delhi, and the NCR. Necessary steps should be taken to achieve this, he asked the officials.

Chief secretary Bardhan also talked about signing an MoU soon with the Aromatic Plant Centre and the Doon Silk Federation for raw materials and products. He stressed on increasing the number of outlets at airports and metro stations, as well as setting up outlets for House of Himalayas products in the Unity Malls being built in different states. He said that the outlets should be given product sales targets. He added incentives should be provided to the outlets performing well, so that other outlet staff are also motivated.

Former Chief Secretary Shri Indu Kumar Pandey, former Director LBSNAA Shri Rajiv Chopra, Secretary Shri Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, Additional Secretary Shri Himanshu Khurana and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
