The Uttarakhand police have registered a case of murder and conspiracy against a few UP police officials on behalf of the family of a woman who allegedly died due to police firing at her house on Wednesday night. The lady has been identified as the wife of local block president Gurtej Bhullar.

DIG (Kumaon) Nilesh Anand Bharne said the team should have informed the local police officials before conducting any raid and the incident was a result of "negligence" by the UP police.

According to UP police, the Moradabad police were in hot pursuit of a criminal named Jafar and who had crossed over to Uttarakhand while being chased. He took refuge in a house and when the police reached there, the cops were held hostage. When they tried to escape, firing took place and five cops were injured, said DIG, Moradabad, Shalabh Mathur.
