New Delhi : Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday honoured five Public Information Officers and five Appellate Officers for their commendable work under the RTI Act at a program organized at the state secretariat to mark the completion of 20 years of the implementation of the RTI Act.

The officers honoured by the Chief Minister include District Magistrate Bageshwar Mrs Akanksha Konde (then Chief Development Officer Haridwar), Abhinav Shah, Chief Development Officer, Dehradun, Senior Superintendent of Police, Tehri, Ayush Agarwal, Deputy Secretary of Public Service Commission Uttarakhand Prashant, Deputy Director Primary Education S.S. Chauhan, Under Secretary of Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission Rajan Naithani, Inspector in Charge Kotwali, Pithoragarh Shri Lalit Mohan Joshi, Senior Administrative Officer Ramnagar Forest Division Smt. Kamla Sharma, Chief Administrative Officer from Soban Singh Jeena University Almora, Shri Liaquat Ali Khan and District Development Officer Haridwar Shri Ved Prakash.

CM Dhami said that the Right to Information Act is the soul of Indian democracy and the foundation of transparent governance. This Act has opened a new chapter of trust, transparency, and accountability between the government and citizens. He said that this law has given every citizen the right to understand, question, and ensure accountability about the policies, decisions, and functioning of the government.


He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a new work culture of good governance, transparency, and accountability has developed in the country's governance system. He said that mediums like digital governance, e-office, online portals, direct benefit transfer, and public hearings have further strengthened the relationship between the government and the public.

CM Dhami said that the Uttarakhand government is continuously working towards a transparent, accountable, and people-oriented governance system. Administrative processes in the state have been digitized, and most government services are now available online, facilitating the availability of information and services for citizens.
