Uttarakhand CM Dhami distributes appointment letters to 215 police officers

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed appointment letters to 215 Sub-Inspectors at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan (as CM residence is referred to) in Dehradun on Wednesday. This includes 104 Sub-Inspectors, 88 Gulmanayaks (Platoon Commander) and 23 Fire Station Second Officers (FSSO).

The CM Dhami said that the police play an important role in making the law and order, public safety, and disaster management system more powerful in the state. He told the newly appointed sub-inspectors that their real test is starting now. “They will now have to perform important responsibilities like the state's security, law and order, disaster management and fire-fighting with full integrity, discipline and dedication,” Dhami told them.

The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand is a state which shares international borders, besides two internal boundaries. Along with maintaining peace and order in the state, the police have an effective role on many fronts like drugs, cybercrime, crimes against women, traffic, disaster management, Char Dham and Kanwar Yatra.


Referring to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of 'Smart Policing', the Chief Minister said that the state government is determined to equip the police force with modern technology, state-of-the-art equipment, and excellent training. In the last three years, about 500 crore rupees have been sanctioned for the housing of police personnel, and a cashless health facility has been arranged. He said that police personnel are being provided training in advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence, cyber security, and data analytics.

Praising the performance of Uttarakhand Police regarding women's safety, the Chief Minister said that the state has achieved success double the national average in the disposal of crimes against women and, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs report, has secured the fifth position in the country in the disposal of POCSO and crimes against women cases.

He further said that the state government has implemented the country's strictest anti-copying law to ensure transparency in recruitment processes. As a result, more than 26 thousand youth have got government jobs in the last four years. All examinations in the state are being conducted in a completely transparent and fair manner. He expressed confidence that the newly appointed personnel will perform their duties with honesty, integrity, and dedication, and will further strengthen the peace and security of the state, and the trust of the public.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Shri Ganesh Joshi, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Naresh Bansal, MLA Shri Khajandas, Shri Umesh Sharma Kau, Secretary Home Shri Shailesh Bagoli, Director General of Police Shri Deepam Seth, Additional Director General of Police Dr. V. Murugesan, Shri A.P. Anshuman, IG Shri Yogendra Singh Rawat and other police officers were present.
