Uttarakhand accelerates UCC registration with targeted approach and awareness campaigns

While reviewing the progress of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) portal with all the departments concerned, Uttarakhand’s additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan has directed to expedite the marriage and other registrations under UCC with a targeted approach. He has also directed to run a campaign by organizing Common Service Centre (CSC) camps to compulsorily cover all government employees from secretariat level to district level with marriage registration.

Additional chief secretary Bardhan also directed all the departments concerned to expedite the registration process by setting targets. According to a press release, issued by the Uttarakhand government, he has directed all the DMs to ensure active participation of prosecution officers in the publicity and awareness of UCC in all the districts.

He asked the district magistrates to organize workshops and training programs for nodal officers and experts of UCC in their districts concerned. All the district Magistrates, chief development officers, other concerned officers, nodal officers who will work as KRP (Key Resource Person) from the districts will also participate in these workshops and training programs of UCC.


On Thursday, additional chief secretary Bardhan was reviewing the progress of the Uniform Civil Code portal with the secretaries of the concerned departments, ITDA, all District Magistrates and police-administration officials at the Secretariat today.

Bardhan has directed to ensure people are made aware by organizing various seminars, workshops, and other programs regarding UCC in all the districts, especially with the help of the education department. He has directed the ITDA to resolve any kind of technical issue on the UCC portal as soon as possible.

He has also directed the officials concerned to give top priority to data security. As per his direction, immediate disposal of the pending applications on the UCC dashboard within the prescribed time limit must be done at earliest possible. The ITDA has been asked to make arrangements to immediately send the confirmation information of the registration process to the applicants through SMS and WhatsApp.
