This strategic move holds the potential to bolster the burgeoning defence corridor, with Jhansi serving as a pivotal node within this ambitious plan. Finance minister Suresh Khanna emphasized that this decision will usher in a new era of growth for Bundelkhand, opening the doors to an array of employment opportunities thanks to extensive infrastructural enhancements.
Khanna divulged that the initial phase of the project will encompass the acquisition of approximately 35,000 acres of land. The price of this land is Rs 6312 crore. He further explained, "Under the Chief Minister Industrial Area Expansion and New Industrial Area Promotion Scheme, the proposal to develop a new industrial township akin to Noida has garnered unanimous approval."
The government initially intends to build an industrial city on 14,000 hectares of land. This industrial city is envisaged along the Jhansi-Gwalior corridor, which will also connect to key cities around the country via the National Highway. Furthermore, it will be well connected to other cities in the state via the Bundelkhand Expressway, which will run from National Highway 27 via the Jalaun district.
