Dressed in traditional Indian outfits, Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel Vance drew smiles at Palam Airport. The boys wore kurta-pyjamas in vibrant blue and yellow, while toddler Mirabel appeared in a mini anarkali-style suit paired with an embroidered jacket and sneakers.
The Vice President, accompanied by his wife Usha Vance and their three children, landed in the national capital on April 21 for a four-day official trip. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw welcomed the delegation at the airport, where he was also seen interacting with the eldest Vance child. A ceremonial guard of honour was presented to mark the beginning of the visit.
JD Vance wore a navy blue suit with a red tie, and Usha Vance was dressed in a red bodycon dress and white overcoat. Hoardings had been set up across the airport area to welcome the visiting dignitary.
The visit is focused on advancing bilateral cooperation in trade, defence, and strategic areas. Vice President Vance is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 6:30 pm at the PM's official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.
After concluding meetings in New Delhi, the Vance family will travel to Jaipur on April 22 and Agra on April 23. Arrangements are underway for their visit to the Taj Mahal. The itinerary follows similar visits by previous US leaders, including Donald and Melania Trump in 2020.
Meanwhile, anticipation has grown in Vadluru village in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district, the ancestral home of Usha Vance.
The India visit comes after the Vice President’s three-day trip to Italy, where he met Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Pope Francis. JD Vance is scheduled to depart India on April 24 at 6:40 am.
