New Delhi: The US is trying to play a balancing act between India and Pakistan, with the State Department expressing condolences for the "terrible explosion" in New Delhi's Red Fort area on Monday, in line with the Indian position, and it's embassy in Islamabad expressing solidarity "against terrorism" for the suicide bombing outside a district court in Islamabad that led to several casualties.

The US has to walk a tightrope between India and Pakistan, specially given that its Ambassador to New Delhi, Sergio Gor , also serves as the United States special envoy for South and Central Asian affairs, which includes Pakistan.

In a post on X, the US State Department expressed condolences to the families who lost members in the Red Fort blast.

"Our hearts are with those affected by the terrible explosion in New Delhi. We continue to closely monitor the situation. Our sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured," the post read.

On the attack on a district court in Islamabad, the US embassy was more clearer on terming it as a terror strike, and expressing solidarity with Pakistan.

"The United States stands in solidarity with Pakistan in the struggle against terrorism. Our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in today's senseless attack. We wish a swift recovery to those injured."
