UP's Purvanchal Expressway to open for public from November 16th

The 6-lane expressway is being developed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), and will connect Chand Saray village near Gosainganj in Lucknow district with Haydaria village on NH-31 in Ghazipur district.

The foundation stone for what is the longest expressway in Uttar Pradesh was laid on 14 July 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The 340.8 km long Purvanchal expressway will be open to the public from November 16th after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates it at 2.30 pm at Kudebhar airstrip in Sultanpur.

The 6-lane expressway is being developed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), and will connect Chand Saray village near Gosainganj in Lucknow district with Haydaria village on NH-31 in Ghazipur district.


The Centre anticipates Rs 202 crore annually as toll through this expressway, but initially, commuters will not be required to pay any toll fee.

The speed limit for vehicles has been set at 100 km per hour for the expressway which will be passing through 9 districts of UP, including Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur. It will also be used as an emergency runway for the Air Force.

Purvanchal Expressway has a total project value of Rs 22,494 crore.
