UP to celebrate 'Sanskriti Utsava' for foundation day with art and music competitions

The purpose of this festival is to explore emerging talents associated with the art and music and provide them a proper platform. The Culture Department has issued detailed guidelines regarding the event. The state government aims to further enrich the cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh, besides making the folk art famous at the national level.
The Sanskriti Utsav will be organized with the theme of 'Uttar Pradesh Parv: Hamari Sanskriti-Hamari Pehchaan'. Folk artists will get a proper platform to showcase their talent at different levels, including the state, block, tehsil, district, and divisional headquarters. This festival will be organized by the culture department across the state.
These programs will also aim to preserve and promote cultural genres like classical, sub-classical, folk drama and folk music and transfer them to the future generation. According to the state’s culture department, folk music prevalent in rural areas will also be given prominence in this event. The artists, who will win in different competitions, will be honoured, and rewarded.
During the Sanskriti Utsav, there will be competitions of Khayal, Dhrupad in classical singing, Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti, Chaita, Jhoola, Hori, Tappa in semi-classical singing, Kajri, Chaiti, Jhoola, Birha, Alha, Nirgun, folk song, Qawwali in folk singing, Geet, Ghazal, Bhajan and patriotic song in light music.
