UP STF arrests 3 accused in paper leak case

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has arrested the three prime accused who facilitated the leak of the question paper for UP police constable recruitment examination held in February which had to be scrapped after the incident, said director general police Prashant Kumar.

The exam, held on February 17-18, attracted more than 4.3 million aspirants to fill 60,244 posts. A total of 178 cases had been lodged across the state and 396 suspects arrested. The STF lodged 15 of these cases and made 54 arrests.

Kumar said the investigation so far has established that the papers were outed from the warehouse of the transport company TCI Express where they were brought in after being printed and due to negligence of the agency responsible for the exam.


The three arrested by STF included Shivam Giri and Rohit Pandey, current employees of TCI Express, as well as Abhishek Shukla, a former employee of the company. Two other prime accused, Rajiv Nayan Mishra and Ravi Attri, are still on the run. Mishra was arrested earlier for perpetrating the leak of the UP-TET exam and also served jail for being involved in the leak of the MP Nurse recruitment exam. Attri had promised Rs 5 lakh to the three for leaking the paper, and up to Rs 20 lakh later, according to the police.
