16 projects, amounting to more than Rs 1,000 crore have been sanctioned in UP under the state's warehousing and logistics policy with the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) playing the primary role in the implementation of the policy.

The sanctioned projects comprise warehouses, dry ports, logistics parks, and other logistics unit projects. Additionally, projects worth approximately Rs 1,600 crore are in the works and are spread across various districts of the state including Lucknow, Unnao, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Mathura, Meerut, Gorakhpur among others. Once developed, the projects are expected to not only employ the local youth as well as play a crucial role in enhancing the competitiveness of local manufacturers by reducing their logistics operational costs, thus providing them with an advantage in the market.

The recent 'Logistics Ease Across Different States' or LEADS Survey report for the year 2023 placed Uttar Pradesh in the "Achievers" category amongst landlocked states, validating its efforts in the space. The LEADS report released by the ministry of commerce and industry measures the level of multimodal connectivity, improvement in logistics and efficiency and the uninterrupted movement of people and goods in each state.

The Lucknow-Unnao-Kanpur region has emerged as the new focal point for warehousing activities, particularly along NH 27. Over the past four to five years, this region has experienced a surge in proposals for the development of warehouses with more than 75% of the total proposals falling under the Uttar Pradesh Warehousing & Logistics Policy concentrated in the Lucknow-Unnao-Kanpur region.

UPSIDA, in collaboration with the UP government has also introduced a range of incentives under the UP Warehousing and Logistics Policy, 2022, by way of exemption of stamp duty, concession of land use conversion, exemption of development charges as well as electricity duty, higher permissible ground coverage, attractive capital subsidy, skill development subsidy as well as reimbursement of quality certification cost.
