UP: Packaged drinking water unit shut, two served notices after inspection

Teams led by Assistant Commissioner (Food)-II Hitendra Mohan Tripathi inspected three packaged drinking water manufacturing units in the district.
A rectification notice was issued to IFFSO Beverages Pvt Ltd at Bhathwa Tiwari in Bhatpar Rani after deficiencies were found during the inspection, officials said.
Everbest Foods & Beverages at Lar was found closed during the inspection. Officials pasted a notice at the premises directing the management to inform the department and obtain the necessary permission before resuming operations, they added.
At Deoria Beverages Pvt Ltd in the Usra Industrial Area, officials found that mandatory documents related to the manufacture of packaged drinking water were not available.

Production at the unit was stopped until compliance with the required norms is ensured, they added.
Officials said inter-district teams had earlier collected samples from the three units during raids. Further legal action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, will be initiated after laboratory reports of the samples are received.
