The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday cleared a proposal to launch a CM Fellowship Programme under which young researchers will be appointed to help the government assess impact of government policies and identify challenges in their implementation in aspirational blocks of the state.

The state has identified 100 aspirational blocks for which 100 researchers will be appointed. They will be required to carry out surveys and studies of existing schemes, compile data, offer solutions for challenges being faced in implementation of schemes and offer suggestions to the government in better meeting the expectations of people.

"Under the CM Fellowship, selected researchers' zeal, their enthusiasm for technology and their fresh perspective will benefit the implementation of various schemes in the aspirational districts, as well as help form schemes according to future requirements," a note released by the government said.


UP has followed states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Haryana where too such CM fellowship programmes exist.

The researcher will be entitled to Rs 30,000 per month stipend and will be given Rs 10,000 additionally for travel and a one time Rs 15,000 sum for procuring a digital tablet. The researcher will as far as possible be provided an accomodation in the developmental block allotted to him/her. The programme will be for one year but can be extended to two years. The researchers will be required to work under the district magistrate and chief development officer for his role.

The state is looking for students/ researchers with interests/ specialisation in areas of agriculture, rural development, forests and environment, education, health and skill development, energy and renewable energy resources, tourism and culture, banking, finance and revenue, public policy and governance, data science, artificial intelligence etc.
