In a new order signed by Special Secretary Akhilesh Kumar Mishra on December 4, the government outlined revised guidelines for higher educational institutions. The order emphasized the installation of CCTV cameras in all such institutions, covering entrance and exit gates, campus areas, classrooms, galleries, verandahs, and hostels. Additionally, it stressed the importance of ensuring separate toilets for female students, especially in coaching centers.
The previous order, issued on August 30, had restricted girls from attending coaching institutes, prohibiting classes beyond 8 PM. Any violation of this curfew would result in punitive action against the institutes.
The August 30 order faced opposition from numerous students in Noida and Greater Noida, who questioned its fairness and practicality. Opposition party leaders also criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for the impact on the "law and order" situation in Noida, which is designated as a "Safe City."
The recent decision to withdraw the order reflects the government's responsiveness to public concerns and the need to ensure a conducive environment for education without unnecessary restrictions.
