Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said Ayodhya and Basti would witness a new phase of development as he is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several projects in the two districts later in the day.

This will be Adityanath's second visit to Ayodhya, ever since the controversy over alleged donation theft at the Ram temple surfaced.

In a post on X, Adityanath said, "When development is linked with public welfare and the benefits of government schemes reach the person standing at the last rung of society, good governance becomes the foundation of public trust."

"Fulfilling this resolve, today, a new chapter of development and public welfare will be added in Shri Ayodhya Dham, the beloved city of Lord Shri Ram, and in Basti, the land of Maharishi Vashishtha's penance," he said.

The chief minister said he would inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various development projects in the Bikapur assembly constituency of Ayodhya district and Harraiya and Kaptanganj assembly constituencies of Basti district.

"Along with this, cheques, sanction letters, certificates and assistance material will also be distributed to beneficiaries of various public welfare schemes," he said.

Adityanath added, "It is the resolve of the double-engine government that the benefits of development should reach every citizen and public welfare should become a means of bringing positive change in the life of every family."

The chief minister on June 19 visited Ayodhya and alleged that attempts were being made to defame the temple town and cast doubts on the functioning of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, but the SIT constituted by the UP government "would bring out the truth".
