Union Minister Virendra Kumar to launch JEEVAN app, SHATAYU dashboard on May 22

New Delhi: Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar will on Friday launch the JEEVAN mobile application for senior citizens and the SHATAYU dashboard for geriatric caregivers in a programme in which the ministry will host a virtual programme on "Creating a Well-Functioning Care Economy".

The virtual programme will focus on strengthening the country's care ecosystem through technology, community participation and policy interventions.

Department of Social Justice and Empowerment Secretary Sudhansh Pant will address the event, the ministry said in a statement.


Union Ministers of State for Social Justice and Empowerment B L Verma and Ramdas Athawale will also address participants.

The ministry said the care economy includes childcare, eldercare, disability support, health-related home care and domestic services, covering both unpaid household care work and paid care services delivered through formal and informal sectors.

A key highlight of the programme will be the launch of the JEEVAN app for senior citizens and SHATAYU dashboard for information on geriatric caregivers by the Union minister, who will also deliver the keynote address, outlining the ministry's initiatives aimed at strengthening the care ecosystem.

The programme will feature presentations by Karnataka and Kerala on best practices in the care economy sector.

Participants from central ministries, states and Union Territories, academia and experts in the field are expected to deliberate on policy issues, implementation gaps, emerging initiatives and actionable recommendations, the statement said.

"The initiative aims to develop a comprehensive framework for care services by leveraging technology and community participation," it added.
