Srinagar | New Delhi: Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday inspected the rain, flood and landslide affected areas of Jammu division and took stock of the damage caused by the natural calamity over the past few weeks.

In a post on X, he wrote, "Chaired a meeting to review the recent flood situation in Jammu. Instructed the water supply and health departments to exert full might in fulfilling the healthcare needs that may emerge after the floods. The Modi government will continue to provide swift relief and financial and technological support."

While reviewing the security scenario of J&K, Shah appreciated the efforts of the administration and security agencies in conducting Amarnath yatra. He emphasised on the zero tolerance policy against terrorism and instructed the agencies to stay alert and operate in a coordinated manner to eliminate terrorism.


Shah appreciated the pivotal role played by the security forces in relief and rescue work in the recent flash floods in J&K. He assured full support of the central armed police forces in managing the natural calamities in the Union Territory.

Shah met the flood-affected people in Mangu Chak village. He inspected the Tawi Bridge at Bikram Chowk, the Shiv Temple and some homes damaged by the floods.

Shah chaired a meeting to review the latest situation with LG Manoj Sinha, chief minister Omar Abdullah and senior officers.

Over the past three weeks J&K has witnessed extreme weather events including incessant rains, landslides, cloudbursts and floods in which more than 130 people have been killed and around 150 injured, while 35 people are still missing. Hundreds of houses, bridges and other public infrastructure have been damaged.
