Tomar asserted that majority of Indian population lives in villages and primarily depends upon agriculture for their livelihood.
Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare said that Union government is working for the betterment of farmer.

While inaugurating a Honey Processing Unit under the National Bee Keeping and Honey Mission at Mirza in Assam, he said that Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi started various programmes and policies for the betterment of farmers of the country.

Tomar asserted that majority of Indian population lives in villages and primarily depends upon agriculture for their livelihood. So it is necessary to develop the agricultural sector of the country which will directly benefits the farmers he added.


Tomar explained that the Central Government has announced various packages under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund. He said that Under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Rs 1 lakh 62 crore has been deposited in the account of more than 11 crore farmers so far. Central government is taking all sorts of initiatives to strengthen the livelihood of farmers of the country.
