Amid the upcoming 'Delhi Chalo' march, the Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee has voiced distress over the characterization of farmers as "anti-national." Highlighting this sentiment, the General Secretary, Sarvan Singh Pandher, underscores the significance of addressing farmers' grievances without resorting to divisive labels.

As preparations intensify for the 'Delhi Chalo' march, scheduled for February 13, farmers from diverse regions including Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan are poised to converge on the national capital. The Committee's stance reflects widespread disapproval of the narrative that portrays farmers as "anti-national," emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue and acknowledgment of their legitimate concerns.

The central demands put forth by protesting farmers encompass crucial aspects such as guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) through legislation, implementing recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission, ensuring pensions for farmers and laborers, facilitating farm debt waivers, and delivering justice for victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. These demands underscore the systemic challenges facing the agricultural sector, necessitating meaningful policy interventions.


In articulating the farmers' perspective, Sarvan Singh Pandher emphasizes their inherent right to voice grievances as citizens of the nation. Rejecting the characterization of farmers as "anti-national," Pandher underscores the peaceful nature of the march and the collective resolve to engage with the government constructively. In anticipation of the 'Delhi Chalo' march, security measures have been heightened along key border points, with Delhi police enforcing prohibitory orders under Section 144. Additional measures include the suspension of mobile Internet services in select Haryana districts and the sealing of borders to maintain law and order. These precautionary steps aim to ensure the safety of protesters and prevent any untoward incidents during the demonstration.
