Bengaluru is in news for a different reason. Recently, India's Silicon Valley has been grabbing headlines for the surge in rents charged by landlords as workers return to offices. Pawan Gupta, co-founder of Betterhalf, shared a tweet, saying that he found an unexpected investor in his landlord, who recently invested $10K in his startup. "Truly amazed by the entrepreneurial spirit everyone in Bangalore shows. Silicon Valley of India for a reason," Gupta said.

He also shared a screenshot of the WhatsApp communication between the two. "Start crowdfunding.....with proper incentive.....it should be a great success." "Woah how cool is this". "All the best." - these were some of the reactions on Twitter to Pawan Gupta's post.

Co-founded by Pawan Gupta and Rahul Namdev, Betterhalf uses the power of artificial intelligence to help people meet compatible matches. It is headquartered in Bengaluru and was founded in 2016. Betterhalf, on its website, claims to have more than 15 lakh users and facilitates around two lakh new connections per month. In 2021, our overall revenue touched the number of RS 5.5 crore which was a 300% increase from the number in the year 2020 when we earned Rs 1.4 crore, the start-up says.

Kunal Shah, founder of CRED, and Saurabh Garb, Founder and CBO of NoBroker, have also invested in the company. In May 2021, Betterhalf says it raised $3 million from VC Firms such as Quiet Capital and S2 Capital in Pre-series A Round.

Both Pawan Gupta and Rahul Namdev are MIT alums. "Both were searching for their life partner in 2016 when they were corporate employees. That’s when they thought of launching Betterhalf – A matrimony app that can work as a matchmaker for Indians without any interference from relatives and employees," the company's website says.
