Soon people can navigate nearest Aadhaar Centres on Google Maps: UIDAI Chairman
Residents across India will soon be able to locate authorised Aadhaar enrolment and update centres directly through Google Maps, following a new partnership between the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and Google aimed at improving public access to essential identity services.

Under the collaboration, verified Aadhaar centres nationwide will be displayed on Google Maps along with key details such as the type of services offered — including adult enrolment, child enrolment, or update-only facilities — as well as accessibility information like divyang-friendly infrastructure, parking availability and operating hours, wherever applicable.

The facility is expected to roll out in the coming months and will cover more than 60,000 centres, including dedicated Aadhaar Seva Kendras, enabling users to identify genuine service points and avoid confusion or misinformation.

UIDAI Chief Executive Officer Bhuvnesh Kumar said the initiative is part of the authority’s broader effort to simplify access for Aadhaar holders and enhance transparency in service delivery.

In a later phase, UIDAI plans to integrate Google Business Profile tools to manage centre information and respond to public feedback, creating a more interactive and accountable ecosystem. The partners are also exploring the possibility of allowing users to book appointments directly through Google Maps, which could further streamline visits and reduce wait times.

The initiative reflects a broader push by government agencies to leverage digital platforms for citizen services, signalling a shift toward location-based, real-time public service access that combines official databases with widely used consumer technology.

If implemented smoothly, the move could significantly reduce search friction for residents seeking Aadhaar services, especially in smaller towns and rural areas where verifying authorised centres has often been a challenge.
