Two people killed, seven others injured in firing between two groups in Manipur

On Tuesday firing between armed miscreants occurred in the adjoining villages of Naransena in Manipur where two people died and seven others injured.

Police stated during the last 24 hours, the situation in the State was tense with sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of protestors. Search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Bishnupur, Kakching, Churachandpur and Thoubal districts and recovered one arm, 20 ammunition and seven explosives from Bishnupur and Thoubal districts.

Police said that on Tuesday firing between armed miscreants occurred in the adjoining villages of Naransena in which two persons succumbed to injuries and seven persons sustained bullet/splinter injuries. District Police, AR, Army and CAPF deployed in the area responded and brought the situation under control.


A total of 130 Nakas/ Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 2015 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State.
