Two operative of PFI were arrested from Assam's Dhubri district

Two operatives of the Popular Front of India (PFI) were arrested in Assam’s Dhubri district.

They have been absconding since September last year. A senior police officer said, “They have recently come to Assam from a neighbouring state. The duo has been identified as Saiful Islam of Dhubri and Shafiqul Islam of Gauripur.”

He added that the duo were teaching in a madrasa named Al-Jamiatul Asia Lil Banat Panbari of Dhubri.


Meanwhile two militants of the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation faction were killed while four others arrested following a gunfight with security forces in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Monday.

Assam Police spokesperson Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan said large amounts of IED materials, explosives, wires and logistical items were seized from the camps which were destroyed.

Assam Director General of police, G P Singh tweeted, "In an overnight operation @KokrajharPolice has unearthed two camps of newly formed KLO faction at Chakrshila hills at Kokrajhar-Dhubri border. Two cadres have been killed in exchange of fire while four others have been arrested. Two pistols, explosive making equipment and camping equipment have been recovered. Further follow up is on to neutralise the entire nascent organisation.
