According to police, the accused – identified as Anil Kumar, 37, from Uttar Pradesh, and Munil Kumar, 24, from Bihar – worked as a contractor and caretaker for the property.
Both men allegedly lured the children, who live in the same neighbourhood, away from the pool area before assaulting them. Officers said the accused also threatened the girls after the attack.
The complaint was lodged by the mother of one of the survivors, who alleged that both girls were targeted while at the swimming pool premises.
Based on the complaint and the girls’ statements, a case was registered under sections 70(2) (gang rape), 127 (wrongful confinement) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with sections 6 and 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
Investigators said the swimming pool, though incomplete and not in use officially, was often accessed by local residents without formal permission. The gate was reportedly left open, allowing a group of girls to enter on the day of the incident. Police allege that the two accused noticed the victims, separated them from the others, and carried out the assault.
The accused were taken into custody after due procedure and checks confirmed they had no prior criminal record. Both victims come from economically disadvantaged families, officers said.
According to Delhi Police statistics, 932 cases of rape and offences under the Pocso Act were registered in the city between January and June this year, compared with 1,040 during the same period in 2024.
In another similar case last year, a 17-year-old girl and her 22-year-old aunt were allegedly gang-raped by five men in southeast Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar; all the accused in that case were arrested.
