Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman today announced that two lakh anganwadis will be upgraded across the country under the Saksham Anganwadis scheme. Finance Minister said that the scheme aims at creating a new generation of anganwadis that will have better infrastructure and audio-visual aids for early child development.

The government has comprehensively revamped the schemes of the Ministry of Women & Child as it recognises the importance of 'Nari Shakti' as the harbinger of India's bright future, Sitharaman said in his Budget speech.

Accordingly, Mission Shakti, Mission Vatsalya, Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 were launched recently to provide integrated benefits to women and children.
